Cool New Thing

There’s a new kid in town in the world of billboards. TV veterans
Mike Seifert and Chris Schuler are part of a new company called GoMobile
Advertising, offering special trucks with scrolling billboards on the
sides and back. The advertising vehicles are aimed at branding, new
product rollouts, grand openings, events, and guerilla marketing. Weekdays,
the trucks will be on routes through the busy sections of Seattle, Bellevue
and surrounding areas. With the company constantly expanding, you can
expect trucks in most areas shortly. These full-color billboards are
quite impressive when lit at night, scrolling every few seconds. Another
option is for the sides and back of the GoMobile trucks to be clear
and carry items in a display for promotions—for instance, a Harley-Davidson
motorcycle.
According to the GoMobile Website, “The GoMobile Advertising
mission is to provide businesses with a creative solution to help
them break through today’s media clutter with geographically
targeted messages that generate results,” says Chris Schuler,
president of the new Seattle-based company. “Today’s commuter
has countless options aside from listening to commercial radio. From
commercial-free satellite radio, in-dash CD and digital music players
to cellular telephones, the only real opportunity left for an advertiser
to reach a potential consumer is through something we affectionately
call in your face advertising,” says Schuler. “Our GoMobile
Advertising vehicles provide the opportunity advertisers are looking
for—a unique way to reach targeted consumers quite literally
in their face!”
“The concept isn’t new,” says Mike Seifert, VP
of sales for GoMobile Advertising. “It’s actually been
used since 1993 throughout the world as an effective and inexpensive
way to advertise to consumers in a specific target area. We offer
a unique alternative to traditional print, radio, TV and direct mail
advertising.”
According to Seifert, the trucks will also be available on weekends
for special events advertising. They can position the truck near a
high traffic road or an off-ramp to call attention to a sale or event.
