GoMobile Advertising Plans Roll-Out In Seattle
SEATTLE- With the advent of digital video recorders
such as TiVo, which allows consumers to fast-forward through commercial
breaks on TV while satellite radio features hundreds of commercial
free channels people can choose from, advertisers are finding it very
difficult and ever more expensive to reach their target consumer. GoMobile
Advertising is preparing to launch a fleet of advertising vehicles
specifically designed to allow businesses to target active commuters
and pedestrians.
“The GoMobile Advertising mission is to provide businesses
with a creative solution to help them break through today’s
media clutter with geographically targeted messages that generate
results,” says Chris Schuler, President of the new Seattle
based company. “Today’s commuter has so many options
other than listening to commercial radio. From commercial-free satellite
radio, in-dash CD and digital music players to cellular telephones,
the only real opportunity left for an advertiser to reach a potential
consumer is through something we affectionately call In Your Face
Advertising,” says Schuler. “Our GoMobile Advertising
vehicles provide the opportunity advertisers are looking for – a
unique way to reach targeted consumers quite literally In Their Face!”
The GoMobile Advertising fleet will consist of truck mounted boxes
featuring state of the art scrolling billboards on each side and
to the rear of the vehicle. Each billboard will display for a set
time then scroll to the next billboard so that any driver or pedestrian
located near the GoMobile Advertising vehicle will have the opportunity
to see 8-10 different advertising messages while in its vicinity. “The
scrolling billboards will provide fresh content several times per
minute so consumers remain interested,” says Schuler.
“The concept isn’t new,” says Mike Seifert, VP
of Sales for GoMobile Advertising. “It’s actually been
used since 1993 in several countries throughout the world as an effective
and inexpensive way to advertise to consumers in a specific target
area. We offer unique alternative to traditional print, radio,TV
and Direct Mail advertising.
-More-
“We have ordered four GoMobile Advertising vehicles to begin
rolling through the streets of Seattle and surrounding communities,” says
Christian Gerling, VP of Operations for the new venture. “Our
first advertising vehicle arrives in September and additional vehicles
will be hitting the streets over the next few months. Our goal is
to have a fleet of eight or more by 2007.”
All of the GoMobile Advertising vehicles will use GPS (Global Positioning
Satellite) technology to provide exact routes and location information
to prospective clients. “At any given time, a client can log
onto our website and see exactly where their advertising message
is located,” says Seifert. “GPS provides the opportunity
to not only assure our clients that their message is seen, it also
provides our drivers with detailed turn-by-turn routing information
to provide the best calculated viewing opportunities.”
The company also plans to use a clean burning, non-petroleum based
fuel to operate the GoMobile Advertising fleet. “All of the
advertising vehicles will operate on BioDiesel, a fuel that is produced
from domestic, renewable resources such as soybeans,” says
Gerling. BioDiesel is simple to use, biodegradable, nontoxic and
essentially free of smog producing chemicals. “It was important
for GoMobile Advertising to embrace a better way to operate these
advertising vehicles and together with the BioDiesel industry we
hope to promote this new clean burning fuel.”
The principals of GoMobile Advertising have a combined total of
55 years in the advertising and marketing business. Chris Schuler
and Mike Seifert are both advertising industry veterans with senior
management roles at both Viacom, Inc. and Tribune Broadcasting. Christian
Gerling has owned his own Seattle based event marketing and promotion
business since 1999 and prior to that managed in-house advertising
agencies for both the Tacoma Dome and Detroit’s Olympia Entertainment,
a division of Little Caesars, Inc.
“From a sales standpoint we offer the client unprecedented
access to today’s busy commuter, going exactly where the consumer
is,” says Schuler. “We’re not tied to a certain
bus route or schedule, we can continually target high-traffic areas
such as shopping malls and special events, but even more importantly
reach the consumer just as they are about to make a purchase decision.”
So just how much does it cost? “Our model is to charge $500
per billboard/per week (excluding a one-time production charge estimated
at $500) based on a geographically targeted route with discounts
for long-term commitments and repeat customers,” says Seifert. “Considering
what it costs to run a print ad, TV or radio spot, every business
can afford this unique attention getter for a month, 6 months or
even a year or more.
